The Condor and the Eagle: Film Screening, Fundraiser & Panel Discussion with Indigenous Leaders
The Condor & The Eagle is an award-winning documentary film highlighting the social movements leading the way towards futures of justice, freedom and ecological harmony. Through an online screening and live panel discussion, EcoResolution helped raise funds for the film’s impact campaign ‘No More Sacrificed Communities’.
The Condor & The Eagle is an award-winning documentary film following four indigenous leaders on an extraordinary trans-continental journey to unite the peoples of North and South America and deepen the meaning of “Climate Justice”. When so many of us feel isolated and helpless in the face of global crises, The Condor and The Eagle brings us together to remind us of our deep interconnectedness with each other and the Earth.
The film highlights the vibrant, creative and resilient social movements that are leading the way towards futures of justice, freedom and ecological harmony. It is a film of active hope that documents the ongoing collective climate awakening and the imperative of urgent change.
In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, and unable to do an in-person premiere, The Condor and the Eagle partnered with various organisations, including EcoResolution, to share this timely and educational film to audiences across the world. The Condor and the Eagle transformed from a powerful documentary-film, into a global impact campaign entitled "No More Sacrificed Communities"; with screenings, panel discussions, and fundraisers, this campaign supported effective movement-building towards powerful change and calls to action.
Through this partnership, we were able to create an inclusive event which was donation-based and free for those who could not afford a financial donation. Our EcoResolution screening was followed by a live Q&A with activists and representatives of impacted communities; the land and water protectors who are rising up against human rights abuses and environmental destruction.
Through this screening, panel discussion, and a social media marketing campaign featuring Cara Delevingne, we were able to reach a vast audience across the world, bringing in crucial sign-ups and donations. Our partnership raised funds for Movement Rights and Another Gulf Is Possible.
Watch the whole conversation with Casey Camp-Horinek, Bryan Parras, Iris Rodriguez and Christabel Reed here, as we develop and deepen our awareness of the fight for indigenous rights and learn how you can stand in solidarity for nature and for all humanity.
EcoResolution believes that we all have a part to play in the just transition to a world that thrives. It’s time for all of us to be true allies and stand in solidarity with indigenous peoples, to hear their voices and to help combat the genocidal violence and racism faced on a daily basis. Through lobbying the powerful, joining social movements, and raising awareness we can all help defend the lives, lands and futures of people who should have the same rights as other contemporary societies.
About Movement Rights:
Movement Rights work offers a deep structural analysis of the role of corporations in creating and sustaining the conditions for climate chaos by using our political, economic and legal systems to create wealth for the few. Indigenous traditional ecological knowledge is the basis of the rights of nature and offers an important piece in the climate justice mosaic. Aligning human law with the laws of the natural world is our big picture focus.
About Another Gulf Is Possible:
Another Gulf Is Possible is a women-of-color led, grassroots collaborative of ten members from Brownsville, Texas to Pensacola, Florida. Their collaborative centers cultural organizing, direct action, advocacy, transformative justice, and locally-led capacity-building training. In particular, they bring indigenous, latinx and desi perspectives to a region split physically, politically and socially on black and white racial lines. They see lived experience of marginalisation as a strength and strive to honestly and authentically put into practice the principles they hold around sustainability, equity and justice.
