The Team

Christabel Reed: Director

Christabel Reed is the co-founder and director of Advaya, Initiative Earth & EcoResolution. Her work and rest is energised by a fascination in how we heal our relationship with ourselves, each other, our environments and the cosmos. For Christabel, we cannot separate these entwined journeys of inner and outer healing if what we envision is a world that thrives.

In 2015, Christabel and her sister Ruby founded Advaya, a transformative education platform enabling the regeneration of soil, soul and society. They then set up EcoResolution in 2019 with Cara Delevingne to access large audiences, shift dystopian visions of the future, ignite collective imagination and show that another world is possible. This led to the creation of the charity Initiative Earth in 2020. Together, they are now building a platform that will enable people all over the world to engage in ecosystem restoration and agroecology.

Christabel completed her BA in History at The University of Manchester with First Class honours and her MA in the Origins & Traditions of Yoga & Meditation at SOAS, University of London. In 2019 Christabel completed a four year Yoga Therapy training and teaches 1-1 sessions in London.

She is particularly interested in cultural narratives and mechanisms of power. Whilst completing a BA in English at Cambridge University, she became further interested in the significance of who gets to tell the stories, and who does not. She then completed an MSc in Environment, Politics and Globalisation at KCL, where she specialised in environmental justice and the disparity between official ‘human rights’ and declarations of progress when compared to the reality of living in working-class and marginalised communities. As well as past experience in communications and community management, she has worked as a Research Assistant, analysing case studies in sustainability, has been a Youth Worker in her hometown Leeds, a Personal Assistant at Festival de Cannes, pulled pints in London, and trained in trail conservation in California.
